A self-employed hair dresser approached the civil court yesterday seeking maintenance for her 3 month old baby.
Emma Mataka sued Elton Nechironga for child neglect, claiming US$150 for the up keep of the minor.
“Your worship I cannot pay for maintenance the child in question is not mine, the date of birth for the child does not tally with mine” said Nechironga
Magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa who presided over the matter told Nechironga that he had to pay interim maintenance order up until he can furnish the court with DNA results.
In his response Nechironga agreed to pay U$25.
Mataka argued that US$25 was insufficient considering that Nechironga as a merchandiser he earned US$365 per month
Gofa order Nechironga to pay US$50 per month, pending paternity tests should be done up until 31 April and failure of which to be taken as a final order.
