A Harare man was recently dragged to the Harare civil court by her sister seeking a protection order after he threatened to stab after he was denied access to use free Wi-Fi.

Tafadzwa Munezvenyu hauled Tinashe Munezvenyu before magistrate Mrs Yeukai Nzuda accusing him of physical, verbal and emotional abuse.

In her submission Tafadzwa told the court that Tinashe had threatened to kill her more than five times and threatened to stab her more than three times.

She also said that her brother even tried to stab their mum.

Tinashe argued that Tafadzwa and his mum Eugene Munezvenyu were using his medical record of what happened 10 years ago.

“When I had delusions and hallucinations, I am a schizophrenia patient, it is a chronic illness and am on antipsychotics for life,” said Tinashe.

“I threatened her after she had denied me access to internet, and on the other account I was spreading marmalade on a piece of bread while I was conversing with her about the internet.

“Maybe she felt the position of the knife was offensive and she interpreted that I wanted to kill her but I did not want to kill her.”

His mother Eugene Munezvenyu also told the court that her son was in the habit of harassing them.

“I am not going to lie about this I am a mother ndinovharawo vharawo zvinhu vana ava vanotedzana (I cover a lot of their mischief)

“I had to send Tafadzwa to live with her aunt nekuti pane zvaitonetsa, (because of problems within the family)."

However the accused maintained his innocence arguing that at least 10 pastors signed a recommendation letter of his good behavior.

He pleaded with the judge for a favorable judgment and for the family to drop the charges as this was going to tarnish his name and claims that he has since apologized to his family.

Tinashe is currently pursuing a master’s degree in clinical physiology and

The presiding magistrate Yeukai Nzuda granted the protection order in favor of Tafadzwa.
