Zimbabwe mobile penetration rise to 96% (POTRAZ)

Zimbabwe’s telecoms regulatory authority (POTRAZ)’s first quarterly report of 2016 shows that the country’s mobile penetration and data continued to rise as millions continue to connect.
The national official statistics recently published by The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe revealed that the mobile penetration rate (active) increased by 1.1% to reach 96.5 from 95.4% recorded in the previous quarter.
Internet penetration rate increased by 1.7% to reach 49.8% from 48.1% also recorded in the last quarter.
But voice traffic declined by 14.2% to record 1,257,842,811 minutes from 1,465,861,821 minutes
The number of base stations increased from 312 to 326 Equipped international incoming following 14 new installations.
It also said that internet bandwidth increased by 9.2% to reach 21,700Mbps from 19,864Mbps.
