Zim banks cry foul as ATMs landing costs reach $31 000

Zimbabwean banks said the landing cost of imported Automated Teller Machines (ATMs ) is so prohibitive and have now resorted to much cheaper Point Of Sale Information available says that it cost $31.00 to import a single ATM plus 15% Value Added Tax CBZ Bank Divisional director Mr Tawanda Matembo said that it its better to import much cheaper Point of Sale (POS) machines which land at $510 as these are also easily accessible to consumers and swipe at various terminals across the nation. During the Government of National Unity, duty on Information Communication Technology (ICT) items was scrapped and the sector grew significantly
